Cape Town:- A 25-year-old man was fatally shot in the head during a violent incident in Brown’s Farm, Nyanga, late on Wednesday night, while a 17-year-old boy sustained injuries from a stray bullet.
The shooting occurred at approximately 10:30 PM on Sheffield Road, Brown’s Farm, prompting an urgent response from Nyanga police officers. Community members alerted authorities to the sound of gunfire, and upon arrival, police found the two victims suffering from gunshot wounds.
The 25-year-old victim was rushed to a nearby medical facility but was tragically declared dead on arrival due to a severe gunshot wound to the head. The 17-year-old, struck by a stray bullet, received treatment and is reported to be in stable condition, with no life-threatening injuries.
Nyanga police have opened cases of murder and attempted murder for investigation. Detectives are working to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident, including the motive and identities of any suspects involved. No arrests have been made at this stage, and the scene was secured for forensic examination.
This latest shooting adds to the ongoing concerns about gun violence in parts of Nyanga and surrounding areas on the Cape Flats, where communities continue to grapple with high levels of crime. Residents have expressed fear and frustration over recurring incidents that endanger innocent bystanders, including young people.
