Public Order Policing Officers Tackle Illegal Firearm Possession in Khayelitsha and Gugulethu

Khayelitsha:-In a series of successful operations, members of the Western Cape Public Order Policing, targeted illegal firearms in the early hours of Thursday, 27 March 2025.
Acting on intelligence, officers raided a property in Mlonji Street, Ilitha Park, Khayelitsha, where they apprehended a male suspect. A search revealed a revolver in his possession, resulting in his immediate arrest for holding an unlicensed firearm.
Simultaneously, in the Gugulethu policing precinct, officers conducted a search in NY112, where they arrested a 28-year-old male found with a 9mm pistol and ammunition. In another coordinated effort in NY137, Public Order Policing members seized a 9mm pistol with ammunition and arrested a 36-year-old man on charges of possessing an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
These operations form part of the ongoing initiative to remove illegal firearms from the streets and reduce crime in the Western Cape.
