Kenilworth:-Three suspects were taken into custody after an alert Maitland Flying Squad team uncovered pitroling.
An unlicensed firearm, ammunition, drugs, and stolen goods, where found during crime-combatting patrols over the weekend.
The breakthrough came when the officers noticed a suspicious red VW Polo in Rosmead Avenue. The driver appeared to be in a heated conversation on his phone, raising suspicions. The patrol vehicle followed the car and ordered it to stop near the intersection of Imam Haron and Loch Roads.
Upon searching the vehicle and its occupants, officers recovered a pistol with live ammunition, various drugs, and items believed to be stolen. None of the three occupants could account for the goods in question.
The suspects – a 44-year-old man and two women aged 31 and 42 – were immediately detained. They face multiple charges including:
Possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition
Possession of drugs
Possession of presumed stolen property.
The investigation is ongoing, and all three suspects are expected to appear in court in the coming days.
