Reporter – George April
A Celebration of Music, Community & Opportunity
Cape Town:- The highly anticipated Blue Downs Festival returns for its second season on December 20th 2025, once again taking place at the Blue Downs (Malibu) Sportsfield. Following its successful debut on March 1st 2025, the open-air family-friendly music festival is back – bigger, better, and more focused than ever on empowering the local communities.
Despite limited resources in its first year, the festival made a measurable impact:
🎤 Two local artists were professionally recorded and promoted.
📲 Content from the festival reached millions on YouTube and TikTok.
📄 Community vendors received support to obtain Certificates of Compliance.
lil Avo Super Star from Mitchell’s Plain
One of the biggest success stories was Lil Avo, who performed his hit single “Love You Either Way” live at the festival. The track has since surpassed 1 million views online, charting strongly on YouTube and in digital stores. Produced by festival founder Brilynn van Rooyen under Young Dynasty NPO, the single was finalized with the support of Star Struck Records, which provided studio access, mastering facilities, and even produced the festival’s official jingle.
“The Blue Downs Festival had the largest youth presence both on and off the stage,” said van Rooyen. “We are not just throwing a music event, we are creating a platform for real opportunity, where local talent can rise.”
