Bush Radio Interview Highlights the Hopefield Pool Project

The dream of building a safe swimming pool for the children of Hopefield is gaining momentum – and tomorrow it reaches the airwaves. West Coast Sports Solutions (WCSS) NPO, together with a representative from “Communities Without Borders NPC” (Langebaan), will be featured as guests on the “Bachat Bush Radio Program, where they will share the heart behind the project and the journey ahead.

During the interview, listeners can expect to hear:

  • Why a swimming pool is so important for Hopefield’s children
  • How the project promotes safety, development, and opportunity
  • The role of community partnerships and sponsors
  • Exciting details about upcoming activities, competitions, and events leading up to the Birthday Fundraiser Day on 16 May

The radio appearance comes at a perfect time, as anticipation builds toward the official launch of the Bonn Hotel Group competition on Saturday, 7 February 2026, and the major community celebration set for 16 May along the Sout River in Hopefield.

WCSS founder and chairperson George April says the radio platform is an important step in spreading the message:  “This dream belongs to the community.  The more people understand why the pool matters, the closer we move to making it a reality for our children.”

A Birthday Dream, a Community United, and a Pool of Hope for Hopefield.

Hopefield is set to come alive on Saturday, 16 May, as the banks of the Sout River become the stage for an unforgettable Birthday Fundraiser Day.  A celebration of community, sport, generosity, and one big dream:  a safe swimming pool for the children of Hopefield.

This special day, hosted by West Coast Sports Solutions (WCSS) NPO, will bring together athletes, families, sponsors, performers, and supporters from across the West Coast –  all united for a cause that truly matters.

A Competition That Kicks Off the Excitement.

The journey begins next week, Saturday 7 February 2026, when the much-anticipated Bonn Hotel Group competition officially launches.  Participants will soon learn how to enter and stand a chance to win incredible prizes, generously sponsored in support of the pool project:

  • 3 Couple Complimentary weekend getaways at Protea Hotel by Marriott Durbanville  (2 nights bed & breakfast for two adults each)
  • A 2 – Night (weekend)  chalet stay at the Riviera Hotel in Velddrif

All competition mechanics will be announced on 7 February, with the public prize draws taking place live on 16 May during the Birthday Fundraiser Day in Hopefield.  A Full Day of Action, Fun and Inspiration – 16 May 2026.

The Birthday Fundraiser Day promises non-stop excitement from start to finish, beginning with a series of inclusive sporting events designed to bring the whole community together:

  • 7 km Fun Run – open to all
  • 4 × 7 km Relay Race  (U/17, U/19 and two Open Age participants per team)
  • 3 × 70 m Wheelchair Relay  (Pushers must be 60 years or older; wheelchair participants of any age)
  • 70 m Sprint Challenge – featuring a very special moment:

George April, founder and chairperson of West Coast Sports Solutions, will take on the role of the challenger in celebration of his 70′ birthday – adding heart, humour and meaning to the day.  More Than Sport – A Celebration of Talent and Hope Beyond the races, attendees can look forward to a vibrant programme of dancers, singers, and local talent, creating a festive atmosphere along the Sout River that reflects the spirit and creativity of the Hopefield community.

Adding further strength to the initiative, “Communities Without Borders NPC” from Langebaan has joined hands with WCSS, reinforcing the shared vision of making the swimming pool dream a reality for Hopefield’s children.  A Dream Worth Sharing –  this is more than an event –  it’s more than a competition.

It’s a community standing together to create safety, opportunity, and joy for its children.
