As Cruise Liners Dock – A Boost for Local Businesses

Cape Town, 12 March 2025 – Cape Town’s waterfront is buzzing with excitement as two major cruise liners, MSC Musica and Norwegian Dawn, docked in the city early this morning. Over 5,000 tourists and 2,000 crew members stepped onto South African soil, eager to explore everything from Table Mountain to local craft markets.

This massive influx of visitors is a major win for local businesses, taxi services, restaurants, and tour operators. With 76 more cruise calls scheduled for the 2024/25 season, Cape Town is solidifying its position as a top global cruise destination.

“A Dream Come True” – Tourists Share Their Excitement

One of the excited passengers stepping off MSC Musica was Linda Martinez from Miami, USA, who has been dreaming of visiting Cape Town for years. “I’ve seen pictures of Cape Town my whole life, but nothing compares to seeing Table Mountain in real life!” she said, snapping photos at the harbor. “We’ve booked a wine tour in Stellenbosch, then heading to Boulders Beach to see the penguins.

It’s going to be amazing!”

Another couple from Germany, Felix and Anna Bauer, plan to spend the day at the V&A Waterfront before hiking up Lion’s Head for sunset. “We love traveling, and Cape Town is the highlight of our cruise. The people are so friendly, and we can’t wait to try some local food!” Felix said.

What’s Happening in the City?

With thousands of visitors exploring, hotspots like the Bo-Kaap, Greenmarket Square, and Camps Bay are seeing a surge in activity.
