Through Sport, Music, and Art
CCN Reporting – June 17. 2025
In the heart of the West Coast District Municipality, a quiet revolution is brewing, led not by politicians or celebrities, but by ordinary community members with an extraordinary dream: to give rural children a platform to shine.
The March 1st 2025 – Malibu Village Music Festival
Three organizations: –
Young Destiny NPO, Piketberg Sports Development Foundation NPO and West Coast Sports Solutions NPC (WCSS) have joined forces with one purpose:
🎯 To unlock the talent buried in forgotten towns and schools across the West Coast District.
Monray Samuels – The Silent Champion in Urgent Need
One of those stars is Monray Samuels, a quiet but fierce netball player from Hopefield Primary. Despite being the only learner from her school in her age, selected to represent the West Coast District in 2025, her school has offered no support.
No public recognition – No celebration.
Yet, Monray continues, focused, determined, and unshaken by silence.
But her dreams may be crushed, not because of talent, but because of funds.
Her single mother cannot afford the R4,110 needed for Monray to attend the Inter-District Tournament in July.
We are asking the public:
🙏 Help us send Monray to this tournament.
Let’s show her she is seen, valued, and that her hard work matters.

🎤 The Bigger Dream – West Coast Youth Talent Development 2025
Monray is one of many young people with hidden brilliance. That’s why our organizations are working together to host a series of talent discovery events across the district:
Upcoming Highlights:
3 Youth Talent Showcases (July–October 2025) in local towns
* Calling all singers, rappers, dancers, poets, and drama students
End-of-Year Music Festival – November 2025 in Goedverwacht
✨ With top Cape Town artists sharing the stage with local youth
This builds on the success of Young Destiny’s Music Festival in Delft on March 1, where hundreds of youth found their voice on stage – many for the first time.
Why This Matters:
There are countless Monrays, kids whose names may never be mentioned, whose families can’t afford transport, uniforms, or instruments, and who are forgotten in systems that overlook rural schools.
But talent lives here.
And together, we will prove it.
How You Can Help
We’re calling on:

💬 Final Word
This is not just about netball – Or music – Or talent.
It’s about equality, recognition and hope.
It’s about showing every rural child:
You matter.
You belong.
And your gift deserves a stage.
Together, we are not only raising funds – We are raising futures.
Please, even if you can’t donate – help us share our story.
