Elderly Woman Murdered in Farm Attack.

Van Wyksdorp:- The small, peaceful community of Van Wyksdorp has been left reeling after the brutal murder of a 79-year-old woman on her remote farm just outside the village.
According to initial reports, the body of the elderly woman, who lived alone on the property, was discovered early on Monday morning, 14 July.ย Authorities suspect she was also sexually assaulted during the attack.
The shocking discovery has deeply unsettled residents of this close-knit Klein Karoo village, where violent crime is rare. “She was a gentle soul, always kind to everyone. This is something we never imagined would happen here,” said a distraught neighbour, who asked not to be named.
Police confirmed that a local youth, reportedly known in the area for previous criminal behaviour, was taken into custody shortly after the body was found. He is currently being held for questioning.
Law enforcement officials have not yet released the identity of the victim, pending formal family notification, and say a post-mortem will be conducted to confirm the exact cause of death.
The Oudtshoorn Courant has learned that community members are calling for justice and increased protection for elderly residents in rural areas.
