Appeals for Stationery Support
Reporter – George April
Steenberg High School has called on the kindness of parents, guardians, and the wider community for help.
It’s to ensure the success of their Grade 12 learners, as they begin their September 2025 trial examinations.
Due to financial challenges, the school is unable to provide extra stationery for matriculants during this crucial period. In a heartfelt letter, Acting Principal Ms. J. de Stadler and Examinations Administrator Mr. J. Corker appealed for donations of basic items such as pens, pencils, erasers, and rulers. Contributions, whether in the form of stationery or monetary support, can be dropped off at the school’s admin block.
The appeal has already been met with encouraging responses from community members. Local resident and former learner, “It’s not just about pens and pencils,” commented Mrs. Claudine Williams, a proud parent. “It’s about showing our children that the community stands with them, that we want them to succeed no matter the odds.”
Another supporter added, “This is an opportunity for us to give back and invest in the future. Today’s learners are tomorrow’s leaders.”
The message in the school’s circular reflects a deeper value: “For God loves a cheerful giver” (2 Corinthians 9:7), reminding everyone that small acts of kindness can have lasting impact.
In times when many schools struggle with resources, Steenberg High’s appeal highlights not only the challenges but also the power of collective action. With each pen, pencil, or ruler donated, the community helps write a brighter future for the learners of Steenberg.
