Reporter – George C April

MALMESBURY:- A brutal murder has rocked the Wesbank community after the body of 35-year-old Alfonso Rosant was discovered early Saturday morning, in Salsies Street, located in the Saamstaan area of Wesbank.

According to a brief statement by Captain T. Helfrich, spokesperson for the West Coast District police communication, have confirmed that a murder case is under investigation following the discovery of Rosant’s body. He had sustained multiple stab wounds.

At this stage, no further details have been released regarding the circumstances surrounding the incident, possible suspects, or the motive behind the attack.

Rosant’s death has left the community in shock, with many residents expressing concerns over what they describe as a worsening pattern of violent crime in the area. Some fear the incident may be linked to gang activity or a robbery gone wrong, although police have not confirmed any such connection.

Local community leaders have called for increased police visibility and urgent interventions to address what they view as a “dangerous climate of fear” growing in the neighbourhood.

Anyone with information that could assist police in the investigation is urged to contact Malmesbury SAPS or the nearest police station.

This is a developing story. CCN will update as more information becomes available.
