Launch Intensive Investigation

Cape Town:- The South African Police Service (SAPS) in the Western Cape has denounced the brutal killing of three men in Philippi East on Tuesday night, 4 November 2025, and has initiated an intensive investigation to track down those responsible.
According to police spokesperson Brigadier Novela Potelwa, officers were called to the scene at around 19:10 in Sheffield Road, Marikana informal settlement, where the bodies of three men, aged 27, 30, and 38 were found with multiple gunshot wounds.
“Preliminary findings indicate that the victims were executed in cold blood,” said Potelwa.
Detectives from the Serious and Violent Crime Unit have been assigned to the case and are following several leads to identify and apprehend the perpetrators. In response to the killings, SAPS has ramped up its Operation Shanela II deployments in Philippi East to stabilise the area and curb further violence.
“The South African Police Service condemns this senseless act of violence in the strongest terms and will not rest until those responsible are brought to book,” said Potelwa.
