Cape Town: – As the heart-wrenching search for missing 6-year-old Joshlin Smith continues, false hope has begun to spread like wildfire on social media.
Videos and photos claiming to show Joshlin are currently circulating online, but none of these are verified, and none of them depict Joshlin.
Let us be crystal clear:
Joshlin has NOT been found.
“Family, if our little girl had been found, the world would stop,” said Ashley Rix in a public message on social media. “It would be international BREAKING NEWS, not speculation, not assumption, not rumour.”
The impact of these unconfirmed posts has been devastating for those closest to Joshlin, especially her grieving family who continue to cling to hope. Sharing unverified content, even with the best intentions, causes unnecessary confusion, pain, and cruel false hope.
Before sharing any updates or media, ask yourself;
- Did I hear it confirmed by the police or credible journalists?
- Did I see it published by a reliable, official news platform?
- Did I check with the family or those involved in the search?
If the answer is no to any of the above, do not share it.
Joshlin’s story has moved the entire nation and beyond. We all long for the day she is safely found. But the road to justice and healing must be paved with truth, not rumours.
Let us stand together in wisdom and unity.
We wait in faith.
We wait in truth.
We wait in love.
💔 Joshlin Smith is still missing – We have not forgotten – Please share only what is confirmed.
