In Marikana
CCN Reporting
CAPE TOWN:- The community of Crossroads has been left in shock and grief after the body of 28-year-old Masakhe Sapula was discovered in Marikana on Saturday, 13 September.
According to his family, Masakhe was last seen by his mother on Friday morning before she left for work. When he didn’t return home that evening, she was not immediately concerned, as he often spent time with friends.
The following day, however, his friends arrived at the family’s home asking if he had returned. When his mother said he had not, they revealed the disturbing news that Masakhe had allegedly been forcibly taken on Friday in Pauli Street, Crossroads, near Sigcawu Primary School, by individuals driving a vehicle.
Later that morning, the family’s worst fears were confirmed when friends showed them a photo of a body circulating on Ezitshisayo. His mother immediately recognized her son’s jacket and socks. Masakhe’s aunt rushed to Marikana, where the family found his body.
Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Joseph Swartbooi confirmed the discovery and appealed to the public:
“Anyone with information is requested to call Crime Stop at 08600 10111 or use the MySAPS app anonymously.”
The investigation continues as the family and community demand justice for Masakhe.
