CAPE TOWN:- Police have launched an investigation into three counts of attempted murder, following a suspected gang-related shooting on Steenberg Road near Kirstenhof on Friday.
According to SAPS spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk, an unknown gunman opened fire on a vehicle stopped at a traffic light, hitting both the driver and a rear passenger before fleeing the scene.
Despite their injuries, the driver managed to speed off and reach a hospital in Tokai, where both victims received emergency medical treatment.
Police confirmed that the rear passenger sustained two gunshot wounds to his lower back, while the driver was hit three times in the upper body and shoulder. The front passenger escaped unharmed.
A green Toyota Corolla believed to have been used in the shooting has been confiscated for forensic analysis as detectives pursue possible gang links behind the attack.
Captain Van Wyk urged anyone with information to come forward:
