Cape Town:- Eskom Western Cape and SAPS launched a joint operation in Philippi, Cape Town today, to remove illegal electricity connections.

These unauthorized connections pose serious risks, overloading the grid, causing unplanned power outages, and endangering lives.

Eskom has been ramping up efforts to curb electricity theft across the province, as illegal connections not only drain resources but also create dangerous situations, including electrocution risks and fires.

The power utility is urging communities to report illegal connections and support lawful electricity usage. “We understand the challenges faced by many, but illegal connections put entire neighborhoods at risk,” said an Eskom spokesperson.

Residents are encouraged to #PayAndBeLegal, ensuring a stable and safe power supply for all.
