In Suspected Robbery on Robert Sobukwe Road

Bishop Lavis:- A 29-year-old minibus taxi driver was fatally shot today in an apparent robbery incident on Robert Sobukwe Road near Bishop Lavis.
According to initial reports, the driver had stopped to pick up a female passenger when he spotted a male suspect approaching the vehicle armed with a firearm. In an attempt to escape, the driver accelerated away, but the suspect opened fire, striking the victim with fatal wounds to the upper body.
The suspect proceeded to rob the passengers before fleeing the scene. Emergency services responded, but the driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
Bishop Lavis police have opened a case of murder and robbery, and an investigation is underway to identify and apprehend the suspect. No arrests have been made at this time.
This incident highlights ongoing concerns about violent crime targeting taxi drivers and commuters in the area, a route known for high levels of robbery and armed attacks.
