Hopefield’s Children Still Needs Us

Even From Far Away

Many sons and daughters of Hopefield no longer live in the town.

Some work overseas, others inland or in bigger towns.  But most of them still carry Hopefield in their hearts.  Their families are still here. Their childhood memories are still here.  And the children growing up in Hopefield today still need them.

Hopefield Primary currently ends at Grade 9.  Neighbouring high schools are overcrowded.  Too many local children struggle to find a place or stay in school.  This is not a small problem – it is a threat to the future of our town.  Parent’s got the bad news from Moorreesburg High School last week, no more places for new grades of Hopefield children in 2027.

That is why I founded the Hopefield Child Support Trust.  The Trust’s mission is simple: to help keep our children in school and give them a better chance through education and sport.  We want to create a positive outcome for our children, but we can’t do it without the support of our community.

That’s why I have also taken a personal decision, while chosen as a candidate in die 2026 municipality election for the Pan Africanist Congress (PAC)  If the people of Ward 7 (Saldanha Bay Municipality ) elect me as a councillor for PAC, I will contribute 50% of my councillor salary directly to the Hopefield Child Support Trust.

This is not a campaign promise made lightly.  It is a commitment to put our children’s future first.
To every Hopefielder living away from home:
You may not be able to vote in the local ward, but many of you can still cast a district vote.  That vote can help shape the kind of leadership that prioritises education,  sport and the next generation.

Distance does not have to mean disconnection.
Your support, whether through your vote, your voice, or your encouragement _ can still help the children of the town that raised you.

The future of Hopefield’s children is still in our hands. Even if those hands are far away.
