Four Dead, Five Injured in Cape Town Shootings 🕯️
CCN Reporting

Cape Town:- What was meant to be a weekend of reflection and remembrance for Youth Day, turned into a bloody tragedy for residents of Cape Town.

This because of two separate shootings indents, that left four people dead and five others wounded.

The most recent attack unfolded at around 5pm on Monday, June 16, in the Siyajlala informal settlement in Nyanga, just as the country paused to honour the youth of 1976.

According to Western Cape police spokesperson, Sergeant Wesley Twigg, a 47-year-old man was killed on the scene, and four other victims, aged between 30 and 40, sustained gunshot wounds and were rushed to a nearby medical facility.

“Police responded to reports of a shooting and, on arrival, found five men with gunshot wounds. One man was declared dead at the scene by medical personnel. The four others were taken to hospital for treatment,” Twigg confirmed.

Initial investigations suggest that unknown gunmen entered the premises looking for a specific individual. Without warning, they opened fire before fleeing the scene. No arrests have been made at this stage.

“Nyanga detectives are investigating one count of murder and four counts of attempted murder,” Twigg added.

Police are calling on anyone with information to come forward. Anonymous tips can be reported via Crime Stop on 08600 10111 or through the MySAPS mobile app.

As Cape Town reels from another wave of gun violence, communities are once again left to pick up the pieces and mourn lives lost,  on a day meant to celebrate hope and resilience among the youth of South Africa.
