Bonteheuwel:- Councillor Angus McKenzie has once again stood firm against gangsterism and crime in his community, declaring that “the fight back has only just started and we’re nowhere near stopping.”
In a video posted on his official page #AngusCares on Saturday night, McKenzie speaks with visible emotion and determination, addressing the ongoing wave of gang-related shootings that continue to claim young lives across Bonteheuwel and neighbouring areas.
His message comes just days after CCN reported on two gang members who were killed in a violent shooting last weekend. Another reminder of the deadly cycle gripping the Cape Flats.
Despite the challenges, McKenzie’s tone is one of defiance and hope. “We will not allow gangsters to rule our streets. Our people deserve safety, and we will continue fighting for it every single day,” he said.
McKenzie’s call for unity and courage echoes far beyond Bonteheuwel. As communities across the Cape Flats continue to face gang violence, his words remind residents that rebuilding hope begins with standing together, and refusing to surrender their streets to fear.
