Sassa Gold Cards Expiring Soon

Beneficiaries Must Switch to Postbank Black Cards by 28 February 2025
SASSA and Postbank have announced that all SASSA Gold Cards will stop working after 28 February 2025, regardless of their printed expiry date. Social grant beneficiaries must replace their Gold Cards with the new Postbank Black Card to continue receiving payments.
The last grant payments using Gold Cards were processed from 4-6 February 2025. After the deadline, Gold Cards will no longer function for withdrawals, balance inquiries, or purchases.
Where to Get the New Postbank Black Card:
Beneficiaries can collect their new cards for free at major retailers, including Shoprite, Checkers, Usave, Boxer, and Pick n Pay (Gauteng only). Only a valid South African ID or temporary ID is required.

1 free replacement per year
3 free in-store withdrawals per month
1 free monthly statement over the counter
No waiting period – the card works immediately

SASSA and Postbank urge beneficiaries to switch as soon as possible to avoid disruptions. For inquiries, contact Postbank (0800 53 54 55) or SASSA (0800 60 10 11).
Beware of Scams! Never hand your ID to unauthorized individuals or accept suspicious cards. Only collect your card from official locations.
