Double Murder on R300 Near Wesbank

Delft:- Cape Town experienced a series of violent incidents over the weekend, resulting in multiple casualties and prompting ongoing police investigations.

Double Murder

Mfuleni police are investigating a double murder following the discovery of two bodies along the R300 near Wesbank, en route to the Mitchells Plain area.  The victims, a 26-year-old man and a 39-year-old male security guard, were found with fatal gunshot wounds.  Reports indicate that an unknown number of suspects pursued one of the deceased and his friends shortly after 11 p.m. on Saturday.  One victim was shot in the forehead and chin, while the security guard sustained a gunshot wound to the chest. Both individuals succumbed to their injuries at the scene.

Shooting in Retreat Injures Two

In a separate incident, two males, aged 15 and 21, were shot and wounded in Beethoven Street, Retreat, near Lavender Hill. The shooting occurred on Sunday night, and both victims had been transported to a medical facility for treatment prior to police arrival.  Steenberg police detectives are investigating two counts of attempted murder.

Authorities are urging anyone with information related to these incidents to contact Crime Stop at 08600 10 111. Community cooperation is vital in assisting law enforcement to address and reduce violent crime in the region.

These events underscore the ongoing challenges faced by Cape Town communities concerning violent crime. Residents are advised to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to local authorities.
