PIKETBERG:- A tragic incident has left a Piketberg family in mourning, after an alleged altercation between two brothers turned fatal in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Heinrich Adams stab his younger brother to death – while he was asleep
The shocking event unfolded at around 4:40 AM in Starking Street, Bergrivier Municipality, when 32-year-old Heinrich Adams allegedly stabbed his younger brother, 24-year-old Mornay Adams, while he was asleep. The family, friends, and local community are grappling with the heartbreaking reality of a family bond severed by violence.
Mornay Adams, described by relatives as a kind-hearted man and a prophet, had recently received a financial payout from his previous employer and the Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF). While the exact circumstances leading to the attack remain under investigation, sources close to the family suggest that money may have been a factor in the dispute.
A relative shared that the brothers were once very close, making the incident even more difficult for those who knew them. “This is something we never saw coming, they were family, they supported each other,” the relative said.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg confirmed that Piketberg detectives are investigating a murder case following the stabbing.
“Upon arrival at the scene, officers found the victim with multiple stab wounds. Medical personnel declared him deceased on site,” Twigg said. “A 32-year-old male was arrested later that evening in connection with the murder and appeared in the Piketberg Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday 18 March.”
The motive behind the attack is still being investigated, and authorities have urged anyone with relevant information to come forward. Crime Stop can be contacted at 08600 10111.
As the community mourns the loss of Mornay Adams, many are left with questions about the underlying issues, that may have contributed to this family tragedy. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the impact of financial strain and emotional distress within households.
