Manhunt Underway after Four Shot Dead

Police search for two gunmen who opened fire in a yard on Disa Road

CAPE TOWN:-  A manhunt is underway after three men and a woman were shot and killed in the Marikana informal settlement in Philippi East on Saturday evening.The shooting happened at approximately 21:30 on Disa Road when two gunmen entered a yard and opened fire, according to police.

Western Cape police spokesperson Brigadier Novela Potelwa confirmed that three men and one woman died at the scene. A second woman was injured in the attack but left before police arrived.
Philippi East police attended the scene and opened cases of murder and attempted murder. The investigation has been handed over to the Serious and Violent Crime unit.
“No arrests have been effected yet and a manhunt has been launched for the perpetrators,” Potelwa said.

This latest incident comes weeks after a deadly mass shooting at a shebeen in the same Marikana informal settlement on 17 January, in which nine people were killed. Police have not yet confirmed a motive or released the names of the latest victims.
The area has seen repeated violent incidents, raising ongoing community safety concerns.
