For Alleged Child Abuse and Sexual Exploitation
Police Statement
CAPE TOWN:- A 47-year-old woman and a 48-year-old man have been arrested in Bloubergstrand, following a high-level investigation into the alleged sexual abuse of their two young daughters, aged three and eight.
The South African Police Service (SAPS), in a coordinated operation on Tuesday, confirmed that the pair faces multiple serious charges, including rape, sexual grooming, sexual assault, and the production of child sexual abuse material.
The operation was executed by a specialised multidisciplinary team from SAPS’s Serial and Electronic Crime Investigations (SECI) units—both national and Western Cape—working in collaboration with the Department of Social Development (DSD), and supported by the FBI and U.S. Homeland Security Investigations (HSI).
Authorities confirmed that the two victims have been safely removed from the home and are now in a place of safety under the care of social services.
Electronic devices suspected to contain evidence were seized at the scene, and further forensic analysis is currently underway. SAPS has confirmed the investigation is ongoing, and more arrests have not been ruled out.
SAPS urges the public:
> “If you are aware of any child who may be a victim of abuse or exploitation, please report it immediately to the nearest police station or call SAPS Crime Stop at 08600 10111.”
⚠️ Editor’s Note:
Due to the sensitive nature of the case and to protect the identities of the minor victims, no images or identifying details of the suspects or children will be published at this time.
