Prison Guard Throws Up Gang Signs

Cape Town:- Shocking footage of a suspended warden at Pollsmoor Prison displaying 28 gang signs, is making waves on social media.
This comes just a month after a video of warden Bruce Van Rensburg, negotiating with an inmate to allow the use of a contraband phone was discussed in Parliament.
The alleged corrupt dealings of officials at Pollsmoor Prison are once again under scrutiny, as Van Rensburg appears alongside an alleged gang member from Hanover Park, Kyle du Toit.
The initial video sparked widespread debate on social media and led to questions being raised in Parliament to Correctional Services Minister Pieter Groenewald.
Additional images have surfaced showing Du Toit posing for selfies with his girlfriend while she was in prison. Following these revelations, Van Rensburg was suspended. Du Toit now faces criminal charges after a case was registered against him at Kirstenhof SAPS.
In a video posted on Monday, a woman claiming to be Du Toit’s girlfriend, said she shared the footage of Van Rensburg to make it “go viral.”
DCS spokesperson Logan Maistry, confirmed that Du Toit is no longer allowed visitations as investigations continue. Maistry also stated that the video in question is not new.
He explained: “The Department of Correctional Services (DCS) confirms that all visitations for the Pollsmoor inmate, implicated in a TikTok video allegedly negotiating for further use of the device, have been suspended. Additionally, the official implicated has been suspended pending the finalization of the ongoing investigation.”
Meanwhile, DA MP Nicholas Gotsell, a member of the Select Committee on Security and Justice, has called for clarity on whether the warden will face criminal charges.
He stated: “The video shows the warden extorting a c-voucher (correctional services currency) in exchange for not confiscating the phone.
“A reply to a Parliamentary Question posed by the DA, indicates that a case was opened at Kirstenhof police station. However, further clarity is needed regarding the act of extortion committed by the warden, as depicted in the TikTok video.
“There must be consequences for both transgressing inmates and wardens alike.”
