Outside Morgenster Centre – No Case Opened

Reporter – George April

Cape Flats:- This unfortunate incident took place yesterday morning.

Monday, 14 April 2025, just after 9am, in front of the Morgenster Shopping Centre.

According to sources, an elderly man with a disability was making his way from Picardi, carrying his beers in a bin. As he reached the area near Anna Marie, opposite the NAC gate, he was ambushed and robbed by a group of criminals.

Due to the ongoing investigation, no CCTV footage or official updates were shared by admin at the time.

What makes this incident even more heartbreaking is what followed: when SAPS was called to the scene, the victim was visibly shaken, in tears, and suffering from a head injury. When asked if he wanted to open a case, he initially said yes,  but later changed his mind.

The problem?

Without an official case opened, there’s no paper trail.

No record.

No justice.

And sadly, no deterrent for those who continue to prey on the vulnerable.

This silence enables the violence to continue, as if nothing ever happened.
