International Firefighters’ Day, Let’s Salutes Our Everyday Heroes

Reporter:- George April

Western Cape:- On the eve of International Firefighters’ we honour the brave men and women who run toward danger, while the rest of us seek safety.

These unsung heroes form the frontline in the fight against fires, disasters, and emergencies across our communities.

From battling raging veld, mountain, and structural fires, to responding swiftly to road accidents, removing snakes, rescuing animals, and assisting during floods or storms — our firefighters are always ready. Their courage, training, and quick thinking save countless lives and protect livelihoods every day.

Mayor Jeremy Fasser expressed heartfelt appreciation with this message:
“Our firefighters are the backbone of community safety, courageous, skilled, and always ready to serve. Whether battling roaring flames or lending a hand in everyday emergencies, their dedication protects lives and livelihoods across our region, and we thank them for this!”

Let us take a moment to celebrate their relentless commitment and sacrifices — not just on International Firefighters’ Day, but every day.

CCN salutes all firefighters – today and always.

Happy International Firefighters’ Day!
