Gugulethu:- Another young woman has been silenced by the brutality of gender-based violence.
Ayesha Unam Mamfanya, 28, was brutally murdered, allegedly at the hands of the man who claimed to love her.

The tragic incident occurred in Gugulethu on 11 July 2025.  Reports suggest that Ayesha was viciously beaten by her boyfriend and left unconscious. Instead of seeking proper medical attention or alerting her family, it is believed he dropped her off at a day clinic and disappeared.
By the time her family was contacted the following day, Ayesha was already on life support.
She died shortly after, her dreams, future, and voice stolen in silence.

According to her family, Ayesha had been in a relationship with the suspect for two years and was living with his family. Allegations of ongoing abuse and disturbing screams heard by neighbours paint a picture of a woman suffering in silence for far too long.

To this day, the suspect remains on the run – No arrests have been made.

How many more must die before we act?

Ayesha’s death is not an isolated tragedy, it is part of a national crisis.
Gender-based violence and femicide are robbing our sisters, daughters, mothers, and friends of their lives.

South Africa cannot afford to look away – This is a war on women.

To every woman reading this – PLEASE SPEAK UP.
