Blue Downs:- Residents of Malibu Village in Blue Downs are shaken after two separate break-in attempts took place within a short span of time on Monday night, 29 July.

In the first incident, a family living in Trafalgar Crescent awoke to find their home had been broken into during the night. The perpetrators made off with their son’s branded sneakers (takkies). The homeowner has urged the community to be on the lookout in case the stolen footwear is sold locally.

“They broke into our house last night and took all my son’s takkies. Please be on the lookout if they try to sell the shoes,” the resident posted in a local neighbourhood group early Tuesday morning.

Just minutes later, another alarming report surfaced from Brighton Crescent, where an attempted theft was foiled just before midnight. A resident reported that an intruder entered their yard at approximately 23:45, allegedly trying to steal a mat that had been washed and left to dry.

“We were quick to respond and saw the man trying to take the mat. He ran to the back, climbed into the neighbour’s yard, then jumped back into ours. Our wall is as tall as the flats behind us, with round wire, yet he still managed to get over,” the homeowner explained.

These incidents highlight ongoing safety concerns in the area, with residents calling for increased visibility from local law enforcement and greater vigilance among neighbours.

Community members are encouraged to report suspicious activity immediately and to ensure security measures are in place, especially during night hours.
