Kraaifontein:- A caregiver at Emithini Primary School in Bloekombos, has been arrested for the alleged sexual assault of an 11-year-old girl.
The male caregiver was arrested on Monday after the Grade 4 learner wrote a letter to her mother, in which she said that the caregiver “touched her private parts and forced her to kiss him”.
The two incidents, according to the victim’s aunt, occurred last week, Thursday and Friday. The aunt said: “My niece wrote a letter to her mother on Friday last week, after school, saying that the carer had taken her into one of those little houses, where the carers at the school sat at the gate and started touching her private parts, and he forced her to kiss him.
“She is only 11 years old and I think this man is about 70 years old. I don’t think she is the only child he has done this to, I think some of the children are afraid to speak out. People need to know what this guy did and more children need to be protected, because many people are staying silent. “My niece is now very terrified and scared.
“She has had counselling with Karl Bremer hospital, and they have also done tests. “We have laid a case at Kraaifontein police station. “The school suspended him on Friday and he was arrested on Monday.” “We hope he rots in prison for the safety of our child and other children.”
The aunt says they were unable to attend the court case on Tuesday, because they were unable to get off work and also because they did not know which court the perpetrator was appearing in.
