CAPE TOWN:- Two separate shootings in Cape Town over the weekend, have left communities in shock, as police investigations continue into both incidents.
A tavern owner was shot and killed in In the most recent case, an unknown man was shot and killed shortly after 5am this Monday morning in Citrus Street, Bonteheuwel. Residents reported hearing multiple gunshots in the area. While speculation suggests the shooting may be gang-related, authorities have not yet confirmed the motive.
SAPS, Metro Police, and Law Enforcement officials responded swiftly to the scene and have launched a full investigation.
Ward Councillor Angus McKenzie confirmed the tragic event and appealed to residents to assist law enforcement.
“Anyone with information is urged to please share it confidentially with the authorities,” McKenzie said.
Meanwhile, on Friday night, 3 October 2025, Gugulethu SAPS registered a murder case following a shooting in Siphika Street, Lusaka, at a local carwash and braai spot where a man was shot and killed.
Police are investigating both incidents, and no arrests have been made at this stage.
Both communities remain on high alert as law enforcement agencies increase patrols to curb the ongoing gun violence across Cape Town’s townships.
