Cape Town’s affluent Camps Bay suburb is in shock after an 84-year-old man was found murdered in his Francolin Road home on Tuesday afternoon.
The victim’s daughter discovered his body around 12:50, with his hands and feet tied, according to Western Cape police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg.
“Camps Bay police have opened a murder investigation,” Twigg said. “There were no signs of forced entry, and no arrests have been made. The circumstances are under investigation.”
Investigators are reviewing CCTV footage from the area, with assistance from private security companies.
Martin Steinau, chairperson of the Camps Bay Community Policing Forum, described the incident as deeply unsettling.
“Camps Bay is seen as a safe area, and this has left residents shocked,” Steinau said. “There’s no indication of an imminent threat, but people are shaken.”
