School Implements Urgent Safety Measures.

Reporter – George April

Mitchell’s Plain:-  Tension and concern have gripped the Cedar High School community.

After a serious altercation near the school entrance that left a learner severely injured.

Although the incident occurred outside the school premises, it was close enough to raise immediate alarm. The learner received prompt medical care and is currently recovering. In a letter to parents, Principal Ms. B. Groeneveldt confirmed that the school has already begun implementing urgent safety measures to protect learners and staff.

These include stronger law enforcement visibility during peak hours, increased perimeter patrols, random search and seizure operations in line with school policies, and safety awareness workshops for learners.  The school is also considering more surveillance equipment and has made counseling services available for anyone affected.

Cedar High has urged parents to talk to their children, about staying within designated safe zones and reporting suspicious activity. The incident has reignited calls for greater safety in school zones across Mitchell’s Plain.
