Makhaza:- Police are investigating the murder of well-known ANC activist and ward convener, Myolisi Magibisela, who was shot dead outside his home in Makhaza on Monday.
The 48-year-old Magibisela, also a community leader and chairperson of SANCO in Khayelitsha, was killed in Hlanga Crescent shortly before 11am.
According to police spokesperson Colonel Frederick van Wyk, gunshots were heard by neighbours, and a white VW Jetta was seen speeding from the scene. When residents went outside, they discovered Magibisela had been shot several times. He was declared dead by emergency services on the scene.
The ANC Dullah Omar Region expressed shock at his murder. Regional spokesperson Akhona Jonginamba described Magibisela as a tireless activist committed to improving the lives of his community.
“We are outraged by the brutal killing of our comrade. His death is a great loss to the ANC and the broader community,” said Jonginamba.
Police have opened a murder case, but no arrests have been made. The motive for the killing remains unknown.
Authorities are appealing to anyone with information to contact Crime Stop on 08600 10111 or use the MySAPS app anonymously.
