Firearm, Drugs and Suspected Stolen Goods Bust.
By Cape Community News Reporter – 3 August 2025

Khayelitsha:- A routine patrol by vigilant members of the Public Order Police Service (POPS) led to a significant breakthrough in the fight against illegal firearms and drugs in Khayelitsha.

In the early hours of Saturday, 2 August 2025, at approximately 05:00, POPS officers were conducting patrols in Ntutyana Street, Ilitha Park, when they noticed a Toyota Auris suspiciously parked in the middle of the road. Inside the vehicle were three male occupants, aged 33, 34, and 37.

Acting swiftly, the officers approached the vehicle and conducted a search. During the inspection, they discovered an unlicensed firearm, six rounds of ammunition, eight mandrax tablets, and seven cellular phones suspected to be stolen. The suspects were unable to account for the items found in their possession.

The three men were immediately arrested and taken to Lingelethu West SAPS where they are being held.

They are expected to appear in the Khayelitsha Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 4 August 2025, facing charges related to the illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition, possession of drugs, and suspected stolen property.

This arrest underscores the continued efforts by SAPS to remove illegal weapons and narcotics from our communities.
