Following Gun Violence Incidents

CCN Reporting

Cape Flats:- Steenberg High School announced today that it will be closing early at 2:00 PM due to recent incidents of gun violence near the school premises.

The decision aims to safeguard the well-being and safety of both learners and staff.

In an official letter signed by Deputy Principal (Acting) Mr. C. Biegnar, the school requested parents and guardians to promptly arrange for the collection of their children. The early dismissal is described as a precautionary measure to protect everyone at the school.

“We kindly request that all parents and guardians make the necessary arrangements to collect learners promptly at this time,” the letter states. “This decision has been taken as a precautionary measure to ensure everyone’s safety.”

The school apologized for any inconvenience caused and appreciated the understanding and cooperation of the community during this difficult time.

Parents or community members with urgent questions or requiring assistance have been urged to contact the school office at 021 701 2281.

This incident highlights ongoing concerns about safety in school environments amid increasing gun-related violence in the area. Authorities are urged to prioritize the protection of learners and educators in affected communities.
