Two Killed in Portlands Shooting

Mitchell’s Plain:- A man and a woman lost their lives following a shooting incident in Golden Gate, Portlands, Mitchells Plain, on Wednesday evening.

According to police reports, the male victim, believed to be in his forties, sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the head and was declared dead at the scene. The female victim, aged 24, was rushed to a nearby medical facility after sustaining injuries, but later succumbed.

Police spokesperson, Captain FC van Wyk, confirmed that the circumstances surrounding the attack are under investigation. At this stage, no arrests have been made.

Residents in the area expressed shock and concern over the violent attack. “It’s scary, you never know when something like this could happen in your own neighbourhood,” said a local resident who requested anonymity.

Police are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has information to come forward. Investigators are reviewing CCTV footage in the area and interviewing witnesses to piece together the events leading up to the shooting.

This incident is the latest in a series of violent crimes reported in Mitchells Plain, raising concerns among community leaders about safety and policing in the area. Authorities have reassured residents that measures are being taken to address the rise in violent crimes.
