Cape Town:- Residents of Retreat, Cape Town, were left shaken early Thursday morning after a shooting incident in Beethoven Road left three people seriously to critically injured.
According to initial reports, the attack occurred at dawn, prompting a rapid response from emergency services and SAPS. Authorities have urged the public to avoid the area while investigations continue.

“Please be careful when walking or driving through there,” read a community alert shared shortly after the incident.

The motive for the shooting remains unclear at this stage, and no arrests have been confirmed.

R20 Million Cocaine Bust in Gauteng

In a separate development, police scored a major victory against the drug trade when a Crime Intelligence-driven operation uncovered R20 million worth of cocaine at a smallholding in Blue Hills, Midrand, on Tuesday evening.

The operation involved a multidisciplinary team led by Crime Intelligence Head Office, together with members of the Gauteng Organised Crime Unit, SAPS JHB K9, and the Local Criminal Record Centre (LCRC).

The drugs, weighing about 80 kilograms, were reportedly brought into South Africa from a neighbouring country and destined for Cape Town. A 56-year-old man, believed to be the property owner, was arrested on charges of possession and dealing in drugs. He is expected to appear in the Midrand Magistrate’s Court later this week.

SAPS praised the teamwork involved, saying the bust reflects the ongoing commitment to removing drugs from communities.

Fatal Shooting in Mfuleni

In another violent episode, a fatal shooting occurred in T. Tokwana Street, Mfuleni, on Thursday afternoon. Police and ambulance services responded to the scene, where one person was confirmed dead.

Details surrounding the incident remain limited, and Mfuleni SAPS are continuing with investigations to determine the circumstances leading up to the shooting.

Robbery Attempt Turns Deadly in Nyanga

Shortly after the Mfuleni incident, two men attempted to rob a delivery truck in Siphika Street, Lusaka, Nyanga, resulting in a fatal shooting.
According to Gugulethu SAPS, one suspect died from his injuries, while the other remains in critical condition.

The police have launched a full investigation into the matter and are urging residents to stay vigilant, especially in high-risk areas.

“Please be careful when walking or driving through there,” authorities cautioned, emphasizing ongoing criminal activity in the region.

Community Appeal for Calm and Cooperation

With several shooting incidents and major crime operations unfolding in one day, authorities are appealing to residents across the Western Cape and Gauteng to remain alert and cooperate with SAPS.

Information that could assist ongoing investigations can be shared anonymously via the Crime Stop hotline at 08600 10111 or the MySAPS app.
