Three Days of Sport & Fun…

Reporter – George C April

Cape Town:- Mitchell’s Plain is set to celebrate a major milestone as the community marks its 50th anniversary with a vibrant and inclusive sporting event aimed at bringing people together. The JP Rocklands MFMC, in collaboration with Recreation and Parks, will host a Recreation Sporting Festival from 27 to 29 March 2026 at the High Chaparral – JP Rocklands Sports Ground.

The three-day festival promises a wide range of activities designed to appeal to all ages and interests.  Sporting codes will include rugby, soccer, netball, gymnastics, and snooker, alongside entertainment such as drumming performances and motorbike displays.

Organisers say the event is about more than just sport – it is a celebration of community spirit, unity, and the rich history of Mitchell’s Plain over the past five decades.

“This festival is about honouring where we come from and building a stronger future together,” a representative said.

The event will also provide a valuable platform for young talent to showcase their abilities, while encouraging families to spend time together in a safe and uplifting environment.

With strong community support expected, residents and visitors alike are encouraged to attend and be part of this historic celebration.

Mitchell’s Plain at 50 is not just a milestone – it’s a celebration of people, pride, and progress.
