As Police Arrest Armed Robbery Suspect.

CAPE TOWN:- Police operations in the Cape Town area have resulted in the arrest of two suspects and the seizure of drugs, cash, imitation firearms and suspected stolen property.In the first incident, members of Operation Shanela II arrested a 37-year-old foreign national male on Wednesday, 26 August 2026, following intelligence about suspected drug dealing in Kuils River.

Police received information about a suspected drug dealer residing at Die Stella Court in Kuils River. The suspect was stopped on the road and a search of his vehicle allegedly resulted in the discovery of a packet of crystal methamphetamine.

According to police, further investigation led members to the suspect’s home in Gerhardt Street, where they recovered 1 000 Mandrax tablets, additional crystal methamphetamine, seven cellular telephones and an undisclosed amount of cash.

Two weighing scales and a money-counting machine were also confiscated. The suspect is expected to appear in the Kuils River Magistrate’s Court on a charge of dealing in drugs.

• Meanwhile, in a separate operation in Khayelitsha, police arrested a 24-year-old man at Eyadini informal settlement following intelligence linking him to a series of armed street robberies and carjackings in Makhaza and Harare.

The arrest was carried out jointly by members of the Makhaza Anti-Hijacking Team and Harare Crime Intelligence on Wednesday, 26 August.

Police said members followed up on information concerning a suspect allegedly involved in the recent robberies and carjackings.  A search of the suspect’s home resulted in the recovery of two imitation firearms and suspected stolen property.

The suspect is expected to appear in the Khayelitsha Magistrate’s Court once he has been formally charged. The arrests form part of ongoing police efforts to disrupt drug dealing, robbery and other serious crimes in communities across the Western Cape.
