Atlantis:- A joint operation between the SAPS K9 Unit and the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation, (DPCI) yielded significant results.
Counterfeit cigarettes, a firearm, and ammunition were confiscated, ensuring safer communities.
On Thursday, 03 April 2025, at approximately 11:00, officers from K9 Cape Town and the DPCI executed search warrants at Dolly Center in Wesfleur Circle, Atlantis, targeting a Somalian-owned shop suspected of illegal activities.
During the search, officers discovered – A 9mm Mokarev pistol with its serial number removed and nine 9mm rounds of ammunition
120 boxes of counterfeit cigarettes, containing 230 cartons with an estimated street value of R704,400.00
A 39-year-old Somalian male was arrested and is facing charges of – Possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition. Possession of counterfeit cigarettes
Authorities have confirmed that the suspect will appear in court soon as investigations continue. The SAPS urges the public to report any suspicious activities to help combat crime effectively.
