SALDANHA BAY – Court proceedings in the Joshlin disappearance case resumed today with a sense of déjà vu, as much of the testimony revisited familiar ground. However, behind the repetition, new developments hinted at a potential shift in the investigation’s trajectory.
Presiding Judge Erasmus expressed concern over the increasing number of individuals referenced in the case, at one point admitting he could no longer recall a name being discussed. This comment underscored the complexity of the case and the mounting pressure to make meaningful progress.
In a subtle but significant update, it was confirmed in court that Phumza Sigaqa, also known as Makalima, has been removed from the state witness list. Her exclusion raises questions, especially given her earlier role as one of the accused — a position from which she was later withdrawn after claims of assault by police officers. Now, her legal status appears to be in limbo, prompting speculation that she may still play a role in the case’s unfolding narrative, whether from within or outside the courtroom.
Testimony continued today with Captain Lombard returning to the stand, though his contributions largely echoed previous sessions. Observers noted the lack of new insight, but remained hopeful, clinging to the possibility of a turning point.
That turning point may come as soon as tomorrow.
Advocate Harmse announced plans to introduce a new witness during the next session — someone whose testimony could reshape the current landscape of the case. While details remain tightly guarded, court watchers believe this witness may offer critical information that could either support or undermine existing claims.
The community, both inside and outside the courtroom, continues to follow the case with unwavering attention. For many, the hope of justice for Joshlin feels closer than ever — but only if tomorrow delivers the breakthrough so many have been waiting for.
CCN will be back in court to bring full coverage of the next session.
