CapeTown:- The City’s technical teams are working hard to restore power to Bonteheuwel, Langa, Thornton, Epping, and surrounding areas.

Hopefully  to complete the work later tonight.

Repairs to the vandalised high voltage cables have been completed. The next critical step is the phased re-energising of the grid—area by area. This cautious approach helps prevent system overload and widespread tripping.

To support the restoration process, power rotation is currently being implemented. This means electricity may be turned off for up to four hours at a time in affected areas, often on short notice. Without this rotation system, restoring power safely and effectively would not be possible.

Residents are encouraged to assist by switching off non-essential appliances such as heaters, pool pumps, and geysers. Reducing the load on the system will help minimise tripping risks during the final stages of restoration.

We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience.
