Kraaifontein:- Western Cape police are probing a spate of violent crimes in Wallacedene, Kraaifontein, after three men were killed, another wounded, and a woman raped in the early hours of this Sunday morning.

According to reports, at about 01:00 a 35-year-old man was shot and killed in the Mhongqo informal settlement. The motive remains unknown.

Shortly after, another man was shot and wounded nearby, while his female companion was allegedly raped between 02:00 and 03:00, only 30 metres from the first scene.

At around 03:14, two more men, estimated to be between 25 and 30 years old, were gunned down close to the earlier incidents. Police have confirmed that the motive for these shootings is under investigation.

In a separate case, a man died from a stab wound to the chest in the COVID informal settlement, Bloekombos, on Saturday evening, 13 September. Police clarified that this murder had been mistakenly recorded in earlier reports as an attempted murder on Sunday.

The confirmed toll from Sunday morning’s violence stands at three dead, one wounded, and one rape case. No arrests have yet been made, but additional police deployments have been sent to the area.
