Anonymous Story Raises Alarming Questions for South Africans
Earlier today, I received an anonymous message in my inbox.
There was no name, only a link to a shocking article published in the independent financial newspaper, The Currency.
As a reporter who’s walked many roads, i’ve learned to trust my gut. And this story… it’s not just another headline, it’s a warning.
What the Article Reveals
- Mining licenses granted in silence, with little to no consultation from affected communities.
- Environmentally protected land allegedly offered to foreign investors.
- A pattern of quiet deals and missing transparency, stretching across rural parts of the country.
- Water resources and untouched landscapes that may soon be in danger, while communities remain in the dark.
These are powerful names involved, mining bosses, politicians, wealthy foreign stakeholders. And the scary part? Most people have no idea what’s really going on.
Why This Hits Close to Home
I’m based on the West Coast, and if what’s happening elsewhere is a sign of things to come, then our rivers, land, and people may be next.
This is not about fear, it’s about awareness. Once the land is dug up, once the rivers are gone, once the people are pushed aside, there’s no going back.
So What Can We Do?
- Don’t stay silent.
- Ask questions.
- Support one another — across towns, across colors, across history.
- Watch every move when it comes to land, water, and community rights.
I won’t name names — because this wasn’t my investigation. But the article I received is public, and you deserve to read it for yourself.

As a journalist, my job is to highlight what others try to hide, and as a member of this community, my hope is simple:
👉 That we will protect what is ours, before it disappears behind closed doors.
Let’s stay awake.
Let’s stay brave.
