Wynberg: – No defense lawyer has stepped forward to represent accused court hitman Abubaker Adams, 24, who allegedly carried out a gangland execution inside Wynberg Regional Court.

Adams appeared in the dock on Wednesday alongside co-accused, Shireen Matthews, 35, the woman believed to have orchestrated the hit that shocked the legal community earlier this month.
The pair face eight charges linked to the brutal 8 April murder of 49-year-old Dingalomoyo Chintso, who was gunned down in broad daylight on the fourth floor of the Wynberg courthouse.
An eyewitness described how a lone gunman in a maroon shirt and black beanie calmly approached Chintso and fired four shots to his head from a sling bag. The incident sparked panic, as church goers feared the shooter was still roaming the building.
Initial rumors that Chintso was a state witness were shut down by the NPA, which confirmed he was facing multiple murder charges and was linked to the killing of Junky Funky gang boss Ashley “Essie” Phillips, gunned down outside Brackenfell Police Station earlier this year.
Matthews, believed to be a gang affiliate, was arrested days after the shooting, while Adams was taken into custody a week later.
In court, a Legal Aid lawyer informed the magistrate that no Judiciary attorney had yet accepted Adams’ case, leaving him without legal representation for now. The matter was postponed to 9 May to allow time for Adams to secure a lawyer.
State Prosecutor Advocate Christiaan de Jongh confirmed that both accused,  face charges under the Prevention of Organized Crime Act (POCA), with Matthews charged for instigating the murder, and for supplying the weapon and ammunition.
