Crime Intelligence Operation Leads to Arrests in East London

East London: – A crime intelligence-driven operation has resulted in the arrest of two suspects, aged 32 and 35, in East London.

The suspects are believed to be linked to cash-in-transit robberies, hijackings, and house robberies across the Eastern Cape, Western Cape, and KwaZulu-Natal.

Following up on intelligence that the suspects were operating out of a business premises in East London, police spotted one of their vehicles,  a Toyota Starlet, which was confirmed stolen in Khayelitsha in June 2024.

The 32-year-old driver was arrested on the scene.

Further investigation led to the arrest of the second suspect (35), who was found in possession of a Toyota Verso stolen in Muizenberg in February 2025.  Two more vehicles,  a VW Polo and Nissan NP200  also confirmed stolen in Berea and Rondebosch, were recovered.

In addition to the four stolen vehicles, police seized ammunition and a pellet gun resembling a regulated firearm.
