Somerset West: – Shoppers and staff were left reeling on Tuesday morning, after a brazen armed robbery unfolded in broad daylight at a bustling retail complex in the heart of Somerset West.
According to early reports from News24, a group of approximately ten masked men stormed a business premises shortly after opening hours, brandishing firearms and demanding cash.
The exact amount taken, has yet to be confirmed, but sources suggest the gang made off with a substantial sum.
In a dramatic turn of events, a routine police patrol arrived at the scene just as the suspects attempted to flee through a back exit. Instead of surrendering, the robbers opened fire, prompting chaos as shoppers and workers scrambled for safety amid the hail of gunfire.
Despite the intensity of the situation, no injuries were reported. One suspect, a 28-year-old man, was swiftly apprehended by police on the scene. The remaining suspects managed to escape and are currently being sought. Police have launched a manhunt and are urging the public to assist.
