CCN Reporter – George April

Cape Town:- Residents of Schaapkraal are facing a prolonged power outage after severe vandalism and theft of critical electrical infrastructure along Kraal Road.

City teams are currently on-site assessing the damage and planning necessary repairs. However, due to the extensive destruction, officials say they are unable to provide a timeframe for full restoration.

“This is not just cable theft, it’s sabotage,” said a local community member who wished to remain anonymous. “People’s lives are disrupted, and businesses are suffering.”

The City is appealing to the public to assist by reporting any suspicious activity. Tip-offs can be made anonymously, and informants could be eligible for a reward of up to R5000.

“Our top priority is the safety of both staff and contractors working to restore services,” a City spokesperson said. “We understand the frustration and apologise for the inconvenience.”

Residents are urged to remain vigilant and to use official channels to report any illegal activities related to City infrastructure.
