17-Year-Old Student Fatally Shot on his Way  Home

CCN Reporting.

CAPE TOWN:- A 17-year-old high school student was tragically gunned down today,  in broad daylight  in Ellen Road, The Leagues, Philippi.

According to Warrant Officer Joseph Swartbooi, the teenager, a learner at Philippi High School, was walking home just after 2pm when he was fatally shot by an unknown attacker.

“Samora Machel detectives responded to the scene, where they launched a full investigation after the young student was found dead,” Swartbooi confirmed.

Preliminary reports suggest the suspect opened fire without warning, striking the victim before fleeing the scene. The student was declared dead on arrival by first responders.

Authorities have not yet established a motive for the killing. The perpetrator remains at large.

Police have appealed to the public for any information that could assist the investigation. Tip-offs can be shared anonymously via Crime Stop at 08600 10111, or through the MySAPS mobile app.

CCN extends heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and school community mourning this tragic loss.
